Experimental Collagraph Weekend Workshop
February 13th and 14th, 2021
10am – 4pm
Georgina Hounsome will take you through an exciting collagraph learning curve that will allow you to fully explore this inventive and multi-layered process. This process can be utilised by beginners and experienced printmakers alike and is a great way to start a printmaking journey.
The technique is an accessible, experimental and intuitive form of printmaking which can use a variety of collaged textured materials on a board base as well as having the ability to use intaglio processes and mark-making to produce etching-like qualities. Collagraph can be both expressive and controlled and therefore suits a range of creative languages.
Georgina will demonstrate different methods of making collagraph plates, working with inks and tools. The course will allow you to experiment with making plates and you’ll be introduced to inking and printing the plates on the studio presses.
The workshop will finish with an informal discussion to consolidate what you have learned over the weekend.
Georgina is an Associate Lecturer in MA Illustration at University of Plymouth and University of Gloucestershire and is the co-founder of Pirrip Press, Bristol.
