Takuhon Workshop:Online – Jess Bugler

£70

POSTPONED UNTIL AUTUMN 2023

Friday  3 February 2023

10.am  — 12pm  then 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Led by Artist Jess Bugler, this online workshop offers the chance to try the ancient Japanese art of Takuhon, the original 3D print.  It was originally used to record carved religious inscriptions without damaging the surface. Objects that would be impossible to put through the press are easy to print with Takuhon.  Participants will learn how to make Tampo pads and then create 3D prints of a series of objects using fine japanese paper and delicately dabbed ink.  The workshop includes a break, both for lunch and to allow the Takuhon prints to dry before inking.
This session can be attended alone or in conjunction with the Takuhon workshop at Spike Print Studio on the 4th February, where in addition, participants will have the chance to use the chine colle process on the etching presses to turn their 3D prints back into 2D revealing intriguing results.
