A comprehensive introduction to photopolymer, an acid free technique, which enables artists to achieve an wide range of velvety tones and exquisite detail in a plate.

This method uses steel plates with a light sensitive coating. You will be shown how to make a plate using a positive film, ultraviolet light and water to develop the image. These plates are then printed in the same way as an etching plate through a printing press.

You can transform your drawings and images from your digital camera or phone, or scan into atmospheric prints with lots of fine detail and rich blacks. The course is suitable for both beginners and those in need of a refresher.

Martin Grimmer is an expert in photopolymer with a wealth of experience in the printmaking world.
