2- Week Introduction to Screen Printing using Screen Painting Fluid and Screen Filler with Simon Tozer
£110
Tuesday 12 March – 19 March 2024
1.30pm – 4.30pm
In this short course we will make screen print stencils using Lascaux Screen Painting Fluid and Screen Filler. The process is an alternative to both paper stencils and photo stencils, but can be used in conjunction with both. It is particularly useful for printmakers who want to take a low-tech approach to screen printing.
Screen Painting Fluid is applied directly to the screen mesh using a brush. Coating the screen with Screen Filler then allows the Painting Fluid to be washed out to create a positive stencil which can then be printed. The process is a valuable technique for artists that want to translate their drawings into screen print.
In the course we will explore the use of both Painting Fluid and Screen Filler as mark-making mediums. Students will prepare screens in the first week and print in the second. The course is suitable both for beginners and for those with some screen printing experience.
Simon Tozer has a degree in Fine Art and an MA in Printmaking from Chelsea College of Art. He has been screen printing for over 30 years, and teaching screen printing for 18 years. He uses painting, drawing and screen printing to create visual stories that are both humorous and personal.
