Introduction to Tetra Pak Printmaking – Stephen Fowler

Sun 4 December 2022
Come and make some special limited edition Tetra Pak prints to give away to family and friends this Christmas.

With its layers of paperboard, polyethylene and aluminum foil, Tetra Pak offers not only an immediacy which other collagraph materials lack, but also a satisfying tactility when cutting, scoring, peeling and printing with this distinctive material. In recycling milk, soup and custard cartons; exciting imaginative creative responses abound. The structure of the packaging can be the spark of an idea or integrated into a motif. Large prints can be created when collaging Tetra Pak plates together.

During this Tetra Pak collagraph workshop, the course tutor, Stephen Fowler, will facilitate the exploration of intaglio and relief print, a combination of the two processes, and you will also learn how to integrate Chine Collé with your Tetra Pak prints.

Based in Bristol, Stephen Fowler is a multi-talented, multi-tasking force of nature.  In 2016 Stephen launched his fabulous book Rubber Stamping at the Art Workers Guild in London. Stephen specialises in public engagement – of all age groups – through performance, workshops, and happenings using life drawing, book making, print making and rubber stamping, often with music thrown into the mix.  Stephen has worked with many UK/International galleries and artists, including Jeremy Deller for The Strawberry Thief exhibition at the Fine Art Society in 2011.  Stephen’s artist books are held in collections around the world including The V&A and Tate Britain.
