MULTI-BLOCK LINOCUT – 2 day workshop with Lisa Takahashi

£190

Monday 17 Feb – Tuesday 18 Feb 2025

10am-4pm

Multi-block Linocut
The multi-block linocut printmaking process involves cutting a separate lino block for each colour of an image and printing them on top of one another to build the picture in layers. This 2 day workshop will be an opportunity to try the process out and get to grips with every stage of the process.

On day one you will be introduced to the materials and tools you’ll be working with and advised on the ways to get the best out of them. We will spend time designing prints and considering the best colours and textures for expressing your idea, before cutting our blocks ready for printing.

On day two you will have a day of exploring colour and printing techniques, with opportunities to try colour blends, ways to add texture and compare different versions of the same print. You will go home with an A5 linocut print and two blocks that you can use again, either in the studio or at home.

Lisa Takahashi is a printmaker who has worked primarily with the multi-block linocut technique for over ten years. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition four times, each time with a different multi-block print, and also appeared on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year working with multi-block printing. Her workshops are focused on nurturing creativity and encourage experiments and exploration, with a bit of good technique advice thrown in for good measure!
