Weekend Workshop – Photopolymer led by Martyn Grimmer
£190
Saturday 15 February / Sunday 16 February 2025
10am – 4pm
Led by Martyn Grimmer
Spend a weekend working with polymer photogravure plates. This is an acid free technique, which enables artists to realise an exquisite range of rich and velvety tones and detail in a plate. This method uses steel plates with a light sensitive coating. You will be shown how to make a plate using a film positive, ultraviolet light and water to develop the image. These plates are then printed in the same way as an etching plate through a printing press. Images can be used from digital cameras, as well as mobile phones and drawings. When etched, these low toxic plates print in beautiful fine detail and rich blacks.
This course is suitable for beginners and anyone who has some experience and would like a refresher.
