Ros Ford – A decade of drawing and print – Bristol, Venice and further horizons – solo show at RWA, Bristol
A free exhibition at the RWA gallery, featuring prints and drawings by Academician Vice President Ros Ford
MAMDP alumna Ros Ford VPRWA RE exhibits a range of her work from monumental prints depicting overlooked landscapes and structures to smaller scale images of the working boats of Venice.
Ford draws on location where she documents and absorbs the essence and vitality of a place. She then develops these sketches at her studio in Bristol. Some of her working drawings and sketchbooks will be on display.
Her large work often uses an imaginary viewpoint and she subtly distorts the image to include otherwise hidden aspects of the location. Each work develops slowly, often over months or years. Much of Ford’s work is etching which reflects the industrial nature of her subject.
Ford is also exhibiting her most recent work, the result of a six-week Fellowship in Venice. The experience led her to experiment with new ideas, formats and techniques.
During the exhibition Ford will be demonstrating some print techniques, see the RWA website for details. Ros will also be giving a talk on Saturday 11 January, in conversation with MAMDP alumna Dr Wendy Rhodes, 11am, £10 entry.
Ford regularly exhibits in the RA Summer Exhibition. Her prints and paintings are exhibited and held in public and private collections in the UK and Internationally.
Private view, Weds 8th January 6-9pm. Exhibition continues until 2nd February 2020.
