Stitched Together – Update Prerna Chandiramani Peter Reddick Bursary Award
Having received an overwhelming response from a public call-out for the VE Memorial project, Prerna has been printmaking in response to the photos. The materials and process have been largely influenced by the pandemic.
With a recent opportunity for a residency @thegarage in Clifton, Bristol, Prerna tested out some of her ideas for the installation. The clear open space allowed for bringing to life her vision for the installation. Every print was individually folded and hand-stitched with pale grey cotton threads. The floor, the walls, the large windows, and even the corridor were used to install a mini exhibition. Videos were also shot to give a virtual tour of the installation. Work is still in progress as Prerna continues to make prints and work on maintaining a diary for this project.
As we go into Lockdown 2.0, Prerna has been reassured that her Peter Reddick bursary has been extended till April 2021. In these uncertain times this support from Spike Print Studio helps the artist relax and fully immerse into her project.
