10 week beginners course in textile screenprinting with Emma Studd
This course will introduce you to a range of screen printing processes for Textiles. It will teach you how to use paper stencils on a screen, make positives for photo emulsion, create repeat pattern and refine your own designs and bring them to life on fabric. You will also learn how to mix & layer colours and play with their transparency. You will explore the possibilities of printing with a screen, and learn how to flock and add metallic foil to your designs. By the end of the course you will have learnt a variety of new skills and produced a range of screen-printed work on fabric. You will have developed an idea into a final design and printed this onto a tote bag or lampshade. The course is workshop based and taught through demonstration and directed individual practice.
Emma Studd has a degree in Textile Design and a PGCE in Art and Design. She’s been teaching Art and Textiles for 15 years in schools & college. She has recently completed an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking at UWE and is now developing her own practice.
Emma creates original one-off works of art predominately on paper. Using the screen as a drawing tool she explores the relationship between colour, shape and pattern.
