Nick Hand Letterpress Collective Workshop

1 day workshop with Nick Hand
Weds 5 May  2021

10am – 4pm

Letterpress is a form of relief printing that was common for 500 years. Its printed form is both tactile and unique. You can print one offs using single or multiple colours.

In this day workshop expert Nick Hand will give you a glimpse into this intriguing world and show you how to work and compose lead and wood type.  And print it of course!

We will print on the famous Vandercook press that Peter Reddick acquired. We will start by each typesetting a small part of a poem and putting it together on the press (called make ready) and then each printing a copy to take home. With the time left you can print something of your own on one of the smaller Adana 8×5”presses.
