Jess Bugler “Memory States”
Jess Bugler explores the nature of traumatic memory in her exhibition Memory States at The Courtyard.
Her work aims to evoke the extraordinariness of the traumatic narrative, where each piece is a captured fragment. An exploration of a state of memory. An attempt to convey something both ungraspable and incomplete.
Jess uses the natural language of print to pursue the nature of such memories. Her work encompasses both traditional processes such as linocut and modern technology including the laser cutter and Xerox machine.
Jess is an award winning printmaker and current recipient of the Peter Reddick Bursary Award. She won the Hawthorn Prize at this year’s Flourish Awards and has exhibited at the National Original Print Exhibition and the International Print Biennale.
